Post‑Installation Products
From time to time, customers ask us about primers, sealers, tile adhesives, levelling compounds, and other post‑installation materials.
While liquid and flowing screed manufacturers do not provide warranties for products made by other companies, there are several reputable manufacturers whose systems are known to be compatible with liquid/flowing screeds. Below is some helpful guidance to ensure the correct products are used.
Levelling Compounds & Tile Adhesives
Levelling compounds and adhesives can be based on either cement or calcium sulfate. The correct choice depends on the system being installed:
Cement‑Based Products
Cement‑based levelling compounds and adhesives are usually part of a complete system that includes a primer or sealer designed to separate the cement from the calcium sulfate within the flowing screed. This prevents chemical incompatibility and ensures long‑term performance.
Calcium Sulfate‑Based Products
These products are generally compatible with liquid/flowing screeds and do not normally require a sealer. However, a primer is still essential to prevent excessive suction — where moisture is drawn too quickly from the levelling compound or adhesive into the screed.
